Gone to the Birds
Posted: January 3, 2012 Posted by: Home & Garden Showplace
As winter arrives, birds are either migrating south or preparing to stay up north. North or south, birds enjoy dining on suet which is one of the best bird foods available since it's highly nutritious and easy for them to get at. And it attracts birds that wouldn't normally feed in your yard.
So put out a winter suet feeder for those remaining cold-weather birds. Or welcome the flocks of birds fleeing the cold and visiting America's southern regions. North or south, be sure to hang your suet feeder from a tree trunk or branch at least 6-8 feet off of the ground (which is a great height for bird-watching), yet out of the reach of neighborhood cats (that would love to dine on fresh fowl).
